- Abstract
- Bioassay-guided study of the n-butanol fraction of hydromethonolic flower extract of Cassia auriculata, propanoic acid, 2-(3-acetoxy-4,4,14-trimethylandrost- 8-en-17-yl) has demonstrated potential as a protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP 1B) inhibitor. An in vivo study using Wistar rats has demonstrated that propanoic acid exerted a hypoglycemic action when given orally. The results highlight the green chemistry approach in developing novel PTP 1B inhibitor.
