- Abstract
- The effect of diurnal alternating temperature(23day/17*0 night) on microtuberization of two patato cultivars, ‘Superior, and ‘Shepody', were examined. Tuber initiation, in ‘Superior’ was faster under the alternating temperature regime than under the constant temperature (17'公),but no difference was observed in ‘Shepody’ . In ‘Superior’,more large microtubers weighing 500mg or higher were produced with the alternating temperature treatment than the constant temperature treatment, but again no significant difference between the two treatments was found in ‘Shepody’ in terms of size of microtubers. The results of this experiment suggest that response of in vitro potato shoot to the alternating temperature treatment during tuberization may not be uniform but rather specific depending on cultivar. There were no significant differences in microtuber production efficiency per each culture vessel, in ‘Superior’,between petri dish and bottle. In *Shepody, however, the bottle showed better production efficiency and produced larger microtubers than that of petri dish.
