Abstract
The induction of superovulation is one of the most widely used technique for not only IVF -program but other many investigations including embryological and reproduction researches. Differences of the responsiveness to PMSG-primed superovulation were examined in mouse. Mice were sacrificed every 12 hours to 72 hours after. Sera and ovarian homogenates were prepared to determine concentrations of steroid hormones such as estradiol, progesterone and testosterone. Collection of oviductal oocytes was performed to observe the state of oocyte at 60 hour. In retrieval efficiency of oocytes, it was revealed that BALB/cANKist and C5BL/6NKist strains belonged 切 the high ovulator group and the rest to the lows(p(0.01). The ratio of degenerated oocytes to the total number of recovered oocytes was measured with regard to the shrinked shape of oocyte, pyknotic nuclei, c的plasmic contraction or fragmentation and 2nd polar body-releasing. In DBA/2NKist strain, the ratio was markedly higher than others (37. 2%, p〈0.01),whereas BALB/cANKist strain had a lower ratio significantly! 13.2%, p(0. 01). Ovarian content of testosterone in DBA/2NKist showed much higher at 48 hour and 60 hour than those of other strains (p(0.01). This result has to lead to higher ratio of testosterone to estrogen at those phases. It regards that the lower conversion rate of testosterone to estrogen was caused by the inactivation of aromatase in ovarian follicles. It was thought that the imba-iance of each steroids may affect follicular maturation, ovulation and oocyte quality. Therefore, DBA/2NKist strain could be a good animal model for the study on the mechanism of Feproduc-tive system in vivo.
