- Abstract
- A reliable high performance liquid chromatography method was developed to establish quality standards for spinach, identifying spinatoside as a key marker compound. Structural identification using Nuclear magnetic resonance and Ultraperformance liquid chromatography quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry confirmed its composition, ensuring the accuracy of marker compound selection. Using the spinatoside standard, a qualitative and quantitative analysis method for the aerial parts of spinach extract was established.
A 6-month stability test of the 30% ethanol extract showed no significant changes in the content of spinatoside. These findings underscore the importance of raw material quality standardization in maintaining product efficacy, ensuring consistency, and ultimately fostering consumer trust in spinach-based functional ingredients.
