Abstract
Enterococcus faecium is a facultative anaerobic, Gram-positive bacterium found in the gut and fermented foods, with some strains exhibiting probiotic potential by modulating the microbiota and producing beneficial metabolites. This study analyzed the genomic sequences of four E. faecium strains isolated from Cheonggukjang. The genome sizes of JB00005, JB00012, JB00023, and JB00034 were 2,612,572 bp (GC content: 38.47%), 3,034,373 bp (GC content: 38.36%), 2,960,038 bp (GC content: 38.30%), and 2,736,348 bp (GC content: 38.23%), respectively. Four antibiotic resistance genes and a Bac32-related bacteriocin gene were identified. The PBP5 amino acid sequence exhibited both the sensitive (S) genotype and a combined (S/R) genotype.
