Abstract
A rod-shaped, aerobic, and Gram-stain-negative bacterial strain, MS7T, was isolated from a co-culture solution containing Myriophyllum spicatum and Microcystis aeruginosa. Through the 16S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) gene analysis, strain MS7T was related to Ferrovibrio xuzhouensis LM-6 T (97.64%, sequence similarity), Ferrovibrio denitrificans S3T (97.27%), and Ferrovibrio soli A15T (96.83%). The digital DNA-DNA hybridization (dDDH) and average nucleotide identity (ANI) values between MS7T and related type strains were found to be less than the threshold values for species delimitation, with 22.5% and 78.81, respectively. The respiratory quinone was ubiquinone Q-10 and the most prominent fatty acids (> 10.0%) were identified as C16:0, summed feature 3 (C16:1 ω7c and/or C16:1 ω6c), and summed feature 8 (C18:1 ω7c and/or C18:1 ω6c). The main polar lipids detected were phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, unidentified aminophospholipid, two unidentified aminolipids, and four unidentified lipids. The genomic DNA G + C content was determined to be 63.7%. In conclusion, strain MS7T is regarded as a novel species within the genus Ferrovibrio, for which the name Ferrovibrio plantarum sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is designated as MS7T (= KCTC 8000T = LMG 33141 T).
