- Abstract
- We have isolated a partial cDNA clone, designated BCSC1, showing a high homology to the genes for the ubiquitin conjugating enzyme. This clone consists of a partial open reading frame encoding 130 amino acids, a 3' noncoding region of 216 nucleotides, and a stretch of 8 adenine residues. The relative expression level of this gene is higher in anthers and stigmas than in leaves and stems. Southern analysis indicated that the gene for ubiquitin conjugating enzyme exists as a small gene family in the broccoli genome.
