Abstract
The toxicities of tri-butyl phosphate (TBP) and 2-tert-butyl phenol (OTBP) on the growth of Saccharomyces cerevisiae were investigated. The toxicity of TBP was reduced by using the inoculum adapted in the medium containing 0.1% (v/v) TBP. OTBP exerted no toxicity in a concentration up to 0.3% (v/v) by adaptation and adding nontoxic solvent 1% (v/v) di-butyl phthalate (DBP). The adaptation resulted in the reduction of hydrophobicity of the cell surface.
