Abstract
Teicoplanin, a glucopeptide antibiotic, was produced by a mutant of Actinoplanes teicomyceticus at 300 mg 1-1 using mannose and yeast extract as carbon and nitrogen sources in flask culture and at 500 mg 1-1 in 5-1 jar fermenter. Teicoplanin production was 25-fold higher than in the parent strain.
